After over 100 years as The Luther Gulick Camps we have officially changed our name to Wohelo.
When camp was founded in 1907 Luther Halsey Gulick was well known and his name was an excellent choice to quickly identify the camps and carry his fame into the business. Over the years we have used Wohelo more and more, “Wohelo Girl” just sounds better than “Luther Gulick Camps Girl”. Of course the Gulick name will always be with us, including in our new address of 25 Gulick Road.
As many of you know Wohelo is from the Work, Health, Love Triangle that Charlotte Vetter Gulick (Hiiteni) made to complement her husband’s Body, Mind and Spirit triangle (which the YMCA uses now). To celebrate her contributions , again, we had the formal name change on December 12, 2010, her birthday. We think Hiiteni, below, would be pleased.
The Red Pine above was planted in front of Point about 5 years ago along with 99 others that we planted around camp. Despite the very tough condidtions of ice, waves and high water it has doubled in size in that time. Quite impressive.

Mark and Quincy joined a few others for a Santa paddle this December in Portland Harbor. Luckily no wet Santas!
