crooked-riverMark and Quincy scouted the paddleboarding on Crooked River.   It was a great trip, but as many Crooked River Vetrans will appreciate, the paddle back to camp was tough with increasing headwinds.paddling-from-state-park

gulick-bookThis book was just published about Peter and Fanny Gulick.   They are Mark and Heidi’s Great, Great, Great Grandparents,  the Grandparents of the Luther Halsey Gulick, “Timanous”,  that founded Wohelo.    They traveled to Hawaii in 1828 (Captain James Cook “discovered” the Islands in 1778) and as you can imagine had quite a number of adventures there.   This book has lots of interesting facts, stories, and interesting Gulick family stuff.  It is amazing how much information was able to be collected from so long ago.     The book  is available on

Katherine Brown finished the Boston Marathon!  Below photo with Kate Stitzer and Geoff Rathgeber  (a.k.a.  Reed’s brother).    Reed filled her Ipod for the race, it probably sounded just like a Camp Dance!

Joan Ouellette – 1931-2010
Wohelo has some the the best employees in the world and that has been true for a long time.   We are sad to say goodbye to Joan Ouellette who passed away this April.   Joan worked in the Wohelo office  for 24 years, 1976-2000.   She watched Mark and Heidi grow up as well as a whole generation of Wohelo campers.   She will always be a part of Wohelo.
